Platinum weddings are a fairly new concept in the united States and the world, actually. Platinum weddings consist of everything being platinum themed. For instance, the bride’s wedding dress would be platinum in color, or at least have platinum accents, such as platinum colored beading. The groom of course would be wearing a platinum tuxedo or at least the jacket and tie would be platinum colored. The whole wedding party wears platinum colored outfits or accents as well. And of course, the bride’s engagement and wedding rings as well as the groom’s wedding band would all be solid platinum in platinum weddings.

The color scheme in platinum weddings also consists of platinum colored table cloths, flowers, and sometimes even china. Most often, the color scheme of platinum weddings is a mix of platinum and pure white, giving the color scheme of the wedding a nice balance between the beautiful silvery white of platinum and the pure white. For those weddings where the bride and groom have a lot of money or spare no expense for their wedding, then often the gifts for bridesmaids and groomsmen is also made out of platinum, such as a platinum necklace or pendant for the women and perhaps platinum cufflinks for the men. These gifts make being a part of platinum weddings very appealing to many.

The appeal of platinum weddings and platinum in general is the rare expensive metal itself. Platinum is thirty times rarer than gold currently is, making it a very desired material and also a very expensive one. Thus, when one has platinum weddings, one is showing off that money is no object in their wedding – that they can afford the metal that is currently worth about thirty three dollars per gram. This explains why platinum weddings have a reputation of being the weddings of the stars or at lest the very rich.

However, it you are interested in platinum weddings, there are certain shortcuts you can take. You do not have to buy platinum gifts for you wedding party. Nor do your rings have be made out of platinum. You can still use the platinum color scheme in platinum weddings without having to spend the money on actual platinum accessories. And truth be told, most people can not tell the difference between platinum jewelry and jewelry made out of white gold or even sometimes silver.
