Cookies by design

In the early eighties, a single mother named Gwen Willhite came up with the idea to combine flowers and sweets into something new, some kind of edible bouquet. The idea was to bake one of a kind cookies and arrange them in a bouquet like flowers, which is then given as a gift to either a loved one or any kind of gift for any occasion. Her place of work was her own kitchen, but it became too small to take care of all the orders which came in. The growth was very fast, so she finally moved from Oklahoma to Dallas, Texas, in order to expand, but also establish a bigger and stronger enterprise.
The original name of the business was Cookie Bouquet shoppes, which changed to Cookies by Design in 2004. Already in the later eighties, Ms. Willhite licensed the franchise to various other entrepreneurs, wishing to invest into the good idea. The franchise has been growing ever since, including not only the direct shopping capabilities on many locations throughout the United States, but also providing an online shop and mail order catalogue. There are cookies consultants available on toll free phone lines and per e-mail to answer and address any question, furthermore, the multitude of shoppes offer free samples to any customer interested in employing the services of Cookies by Design.
The multitude of cookies on offer simply boggles the mind, to read the list alone takes a while, whereby the cookie bouquets is just a miniscule part of the business now. Cookie baskets and cookie wedding gifts are available; seemingly every occasion has been considered, including the themed cookies, like Disney, Garfield and Winnie the Pooh, but also gourmet cookies and individually decorated cookies are on offer.
Like every such exclusive arrangement, the cookies may seem pricey at first, but considering that the batches made are fresh, made in a gourmet and exclusive, individual style, are packaged really beautifully and are considered less of an everyday cookie experience, but an exclusive gift opportunity, the prices can be viewed as moderate. They start from around twenty dollars for a simple bouquet to one hundred and twenty dollars for a lavish decorated BouTray, which is actually a table centerpiece.
It seems like the Cookies by Design can be viewed as a classic rags to riches or American Dream stories, where a single mom started a business out of desperation and wound up a corporate conglomerate. The interesting question here is, while the dame was working, who watched over the child or children and where did she get the start up finances from? Who counseled her on trademarking the franchise in time and why did not one of the big players buy her out? But these questions are remaining unanswered.
